A person has been rescued from the water in Bilberry in a multi-agency response to an incident on Monday morning.
Waterford City River Rescue posted on social media that in addition to themselves, the rescue involved crews from Waterford City Fire Service, An Garda Síochána and the National Ambulance Service.
The person was located and rescued from the water by crews from Waterford City Fire Service.
"We wish the person involved a speedy recovery. Thank you to everyone involved and to the Irish Coast Guard for their coordination of this incident with a very successful outcome," said Waterford City River Rescue.
Waterford City River Rescue also used the incident to emphasise the swift action of the public in a successful response.
"We would like to reiterate the absolute importance of an early call to the Emergency Services for water incidents so the relevant services can be dispatched promptly. Please remember, if you see anyone in difficulty on our Lakes, Rivers or Coast, Call 999 or 112 and ask for The Irish Coast Guard, who will dispatch the services needed to the scene. Do not assume somebody has already made that call," said Waterford City River Rescue.
In their post, they signposted several organisations a person can contact if they feel alone.
