Over €20,000 raised for victim of Cappoquin assault
A vigil was held in Cappoquin in the wake of Casey's assault.
Over €20,000 has been raised for Edward Casey after suffering serious injuries following a violent assault in Cappoquin on 17 October.
Mr Casey was rushed to UHW in critical condition and underwent surgery following the assault, which took place at the junction between Cook Street and Mill Street around 11.50 pm.
“Edward is now beginning a long and challenging road to recovery,” Mr Casey’s GoFundMe page reads.
“While we're incredibly grateful that he's still with us. The journey ahead comes with significant medical expenses and rehabilitation costs.
“Together we can help get Edward back on his feet.”
Gardaí have made multiple arrests following the incident.
A vigil was held in Cappoquin in October following Casey's assault and violence on gardaí across West Waterford.
