An intriguing photograph sent to Waterford News & Star and waterford-news.ie from a reader in the Stradbally area of the county provides an intriguing window into the county's past.

The photo, courtesy of Seamus Gallagher, was provided to the newspaper by the Stradbally Phorographic Archive and it's believed it may have been taken in the mid-1950s.

It shows Jack Harris (centre) and Garda John Nolan and was taken at a time when the Gardaí were very much part of the communities they served - especially in rural areas like Stradbally.

Meanwhile, if anyone has information, queries or photos they would like included in the Stradbally Photographic Archive they can contact contact Tom Hickey (087 9386209) or  Christine King at christinebennettking@gmail.com who would be delighted to assist.
