New semi-final pairings in Déise camogie championship

De La Salle will renew rivalry with St Anne’s in the Camogie semi finals.
The semi-finals of the Waterford senior camogie championship have been redrawn after a county board meeting last night.
Holders De La Salle will face St Anne’s while Gailltir will meet Brickey Rangers. Both matches are fixed for Sunday, October 20 at the SETU Arena.
The semi-finals were originally pencilled in for Saturday, October 12 (De La Salle v Gailltir and St Anne’s v Brickey Rangers) but an appeal over an unregistered player brought the competition to a halt. Munster Camogie ruled that the quarter final fixtures were out of order.
Revised quarter finals (St Anne's v Gailltir, Brickey Rangers v Butlerstown and Tramore v Cappoquin) were met with resistance so the county board put forward two proposals on Wednesday night.
A motion for the existing fixtures to be stood down was accepted by the majority of club delegates.
A new senior championship format also received majority support. An open draw was made for the semi-finals with the three beaten quarter finalists Tramore, Butlerstown and Cappoquin entering a shield competition.
The county final will be played on Saturday, October 26 with the victors starting their Munster championship campaign the following weekend.
Tramore and Butlerstown will clash in the senior shield semi-final.
The winner of that game will take on Cappoquin in the final.
