New CCTV cameras proposed for almost 30 areas of Waterford City and county

Waterford City and County Council are proposing to install CCTV cameras in 29 areas of Waterford City and county to combat littering and illegal dumping.
The council have opened the consultation process and is seeking the public's views.
An approval in an area will be for a maximum of three years and can be erected at any time within that period.
The council say CCTV schemes are subject to funding availability.
The 29 areas are as follows:

- Scotch Quay, Congreve Lane, Waterford
- High Street / Keizer Street, Waterford
- Ballybricken
- The Glen
- Tesco Ballybeg
- Tesco Poleberry

- John's Lane, Waterford
- St. Johns Avenue, Waterford
- Gaultier
- Killea, Dunmore East
- Dungarvan Estuary, Shandon
- Cathal Brugha Place, Dungarvan
- N25 Layby, Barranalira
- Clonea Beach car park
- Kilbarry Road, Waterford

Any member of the public who wishes to make a submission can do so in writing, marked CCTV Consultation, to Waterford City and County Council, Customer Service, Baileys New Street, Waterford.
Submissions can also be made by email and through the online portal to Envsubmissions@waterfordcouncil.ie by going to the page marked Make A Submission. The closing date for submissions is Friday, August 1, 2025.
