Neville Hotels plan further works on Waterford's Lombard Street

The former Alfie Hale's Sports Bar.
The regeneration of Lombard Street continues, with a new planning application submitted for works to the former Alfie Hale sports bar.
The Neville Hotel Group, operators of the Tower Hotel, have been tackling longstanding dereliction in the area through recent expansion works to the hotel's facilities.

The new application submitted this week by the group outlines its intention to now also commence works to the former Alfie Hale Sports Bar at 15 Lombard Street.
Plans involve the conversion of the former bar and a residence to four one-bed apartments and for the demolition of existing single and two-storey extensions to the rear of the bar.
Waterford City and County Council are expected to make a decision on the development by July 13.
Significant works have been taking place in recent months to previously derelict buildings directly neighbouring the hotel.
Situated at a major entrance point to the city centre, the buildings have, for a long time, been an eyesore for passersby.
The hotel's newly refurbished ballroom opened to the public earlier this month, with 15 new suites also on stream and expected to finish this summer.
Director at Neville Hotels, Therese Kelly, spoke to the Waterford News & Star recently, saying: "This will hopefully really brighten up Lombard Street, which it has been in need of."
