Motorist caught travelling at 174km/h in Waterford

The Gardaí observed a motorist travelling at 174km/h in Waterford.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the Gardaí were carrying out speed checks on the N25.

In an online post the revealed that one motorist was caught travelling at 174km/h in an area governed by a 100km/h speed limit.

The driver was stopped and will now face a summons to appear in court.

The speed limits on minor 'L' roads was reduced at the start of the month with the limit on such roads reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h as part of an overall phasing in of new road traffic measures aimed at reducing fatalities on Irish road.
