The rain warning is in place across much of the country, affecting Waterford, Kerry, Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.
The national forecaster is warning of intense bursts of rainfall over short periods of time, which could cause surface flooding and possible river flooding.
On the roads, this could cause very difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
Nearby Waterford, a status red rain warning is in place for Cork, with Met Éireann warning that the highest level accumulations across the country this weekend are expected in Cork.
Severe flooding and damage to homes and businesses are possible effects of the rainfall, while dangerous and treacherous travelling conditions have been warned of from midnight tonight to 10am on Saturday, November 22.
