At a very enjoyable function in Dunphy's Pub, Kill, on Friday, January 31, proceeds from the 2024 Michael Power Christmas Day Memorial Swim were presented to Richard Burke, the chairperson of the Boatstrand Safety Centre.

The event raised €8,679 much to the delight of all involved. 

Darren Power presented the cheque and thanked all the swimmers who took part in the event on Christmas Day.

He also acknowledged everyone who contributed to the bucket collection and those who sponsored the swimmers. 

Mr Power thanked Centra supermarket, Kilmacthomas and Kilmeaden, for allowing the bucket collection and he also praised Bunmahon Lifeguards, Portlaw Red Cross, the Irish Coastguard, local newspaper, WLRfm and anyone else who contributed to the success of the swim in anyway.

Richard Burke spoke of future plans and events for the local community centre.

A presentation was also made to Paudie Dunphy, proprietor of Dunphy's Pub, for his support of the swim down through the years. 

His pub is always available for fundraising quiz nights and the presentation night each year. 

The night also included music from the Metalmen.
