There was great excitement recently in a County Waterford GAA club when one of its greatest supporters was remembered in a very special way.

However, the event served a dual purpose as it wasn't just in memory of someone who was extremely well-liked in both clubs but it was also a fundraiser for Waterford Hospice.

"The match itself was highly entertaining and competitive as current players of both clubs and past stars put on the gear again to remember Andy," said the spokesperson.

"From a Kill point of view, it was Killian Mc Carthy who was the star of the show, who gave an exhibition of place kicking with the oval ball," he added.

He went on to comment: "The score of the day had to go to Tomas Casey who kicked an outrageous two-pointer from a huge distance."

The spokesperson said Kill GAA Club sincerely thanked everyone one who togged out, young and old.

"It just goes to show the regard Andy was held in with players from neighbouring clubs all lining out," he said.

"We would also like to thank everyone who assisted in the organising and running of the event," he added.

Local business that sponsored raffle prizes and the barbecue were also praised.

However, the most appreciation went to everyone who supported the day and created a great atmosphere and kindly donated to the Waterford Hospice.

They ensured the day was a huge success.

"Finally, we would like to thank Waterpark Rugby Club for all their co-operation and hospitality on the day," said the Kill spokesperson.

"It's fair to say a great link has been formed by Andy between the two clubs."
