Gardaí completed a 'day of action' yesterday, Wednesday, August 19, targeting local e-scooter use, handing out fines and in one case seizing an e-scooter.
Reportedly, thirteen on-the-spot fines were issued to e-scooter users for driving in pedestrian areas and on footpaths, with one e-scooter being seized from a juvenile.
Inspector Shay Keevans from Waterford Garda Station spoke with WLR FM and said that two suspected drug drivers were also arrested as part of the crackdown on e-scooters.
WLR were told that the driver of an e-scooter was stopped and arrested after being found with an estimated €1,000 worth of cannabis.
27 on-the-spot fines were issued throughout the day for a range of road traffic offences as part of Waterford Gardaí's operation.
