Man pleads guilty to possessing thousands of child sex abuse images and videos
The man was remanded on continuing bail to June 4
A Waterford man was arraigned in Waterford Circuit Court last week, charged with possession of child pornography, and communicating with a child to facilitate their exploitation.
He pleaded guilty to both charges, and the court was informed that there is an identifiable victim involved.
The court heard that on November 17, 2021, the man was in possession of 2,355 images and videos of child pornography, and 750 files of child exposure material.
The man's defence barrister asked to adjourn the sentencing to allow for the preparation of a probation and welfare report.
The court was told that the man lives with his parents and has "a very good employment record".
Judge Eugene O'Kelly directed the preparation of a probation and welfare report, and also requested that victim impact statements be procured from the victim or victims.
The man will be remanded on continued bail to June 4 for mention at Waterford Circuit Court.
He cannot be identified in this report due to in-camera restrictions
