Man in his 40s arrested following €1.2 million drugs seizure in the South East

A man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to the seizure of €1.2 million of cannabis at Rosslare Europort in Wexford.
Revenue officers on Thursday discovered the 204kg of suspected cannabis resin while searching a car which had come in by ferry.
The man is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in Co. Wexford.
Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
Earlier this week, in a separate incident at Rosslare Europort, a man in his 60s was questioned after Revenue officers seized 145,980 cigarettes valued at over €131,710.
The cigarettes, branded L&M Blue Label, Marlboro, and Parliament, represent a potential loss to the exchequer of more than €104,120.

The cigarettes were found on an accompanied freight unit which had arrived by ferry from France.
Revenue stopped and searched the truck, which was also seized.
Revenue says investigations are ongoing.
