Man guilty of producing machete in Waterford City

Tierney was charged for producing a machete in Waterford City.

A Waterford man has pleaded guilty to possessing a machete in a public place.

Michael Tierney, of 94 Morrison’s Road, Waterford City, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

At Waterford Circuit Court, Tierney (45) pleaded guilty to having a machete on Manor Street, Waterford City, on November 11, 2023.

Defence barrister Brian P. O’Shea BL asked for the preparation of a probation report and stated: “This is a matter of some complexity.” 

The court heard that there was "no identifiable victim". 

Tierney will be sentenced on April 15.
