Man arrested for being intoxicated near a busy road

A man appeared in court last week after being arrested for intoxication in the vicinity of a busy road in Waterford city.

Vitalli Vyshnivetskyi (37), of 11 Maplewood, Templar’s Hall, entered a guilty plea on one Section 4 Public Order count.

At Templars Hall estate on May 31 at approximately 9.10pm, Gardaí found the man in an intoxicated state.

He was stumbling and slurring his speech. Gardaí arrested him and brought him to the station.

The man’s defence solicitor, Mr. Hilary Delahunty, said that his client had no previous convictions. He is a Ukrainian national who arrived to live in Ireland only a few years ago. Mr. Delahunty said his client was very apologetic for his actions on the night.

Presiding over Waterford District Court, Judge Darach McCarthy, said that the offender is a family man and a displaced man.

Judge McCarthy ordered him to €50 to the court poor box to conclude the matter. The man paid the fee and the matter was struck out.
