A man charged with assaulting Waterford pensioner, Pat Fitzgerald, who later died, has been further remanded in custody.

David Norris (35), of Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co. Wexford, appeared by video link before Judge Kevin Staunton at Waterford District Court on Tuesday, September 2.

Mr Norris is charged with assault causing harm to the late Mr Fitzgerald.

Acting for the defendant, solicitor Ken Cunningham said that there is a High Court application pending and they were hopeful it would be heard later this week.
