Major hotel development is approved in Dungarvan

The development involves the demolition of the existing 1970's era three-storey Bridge House building at Richard Walsh Street and T.F Meagher Street in Dungarvan.
The construction of a seven-storey hotel and aparthotel in Dungarvan has been approved.
The development involves the demolition of the existing 1970's era three-storey Bridge House building at Richard Walsh Street and T.F Meagher Street, and in its place the construction of a seven-storey building with 42 hotel bedrooms, 42 aparthotel rooms and one penthouse suite.
The ground floor will comprise of two function halls, which can integrate to a single larger space, along with a lobby/reception area and a publicly accessible café/bar, which will serve hot food.
The first to fifth floors will comprise of the hotel bedrooms and aparthotel rooms. The sixth floor will comprise of aparthotel rooms and the single penthouse suite with a balcony/terrace.
The approved application will also reconfigure and build over the surface car park area off Richard A Walsh Street. 48 car parking spaces of which three are disabled bays will be provided.
Also approved is a green wall, 26 bicycle parking/storage areas and hotel/aparthotel signage.
The application for planning, which was submitted in November 2023 by Michael Ryan, was granted permission by Waterford City and County Council this week with 21 conditions, including that Mr. Ryan pay almost €75,000 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities.
He must also pay ‘A Special Financial Contribution' of €25,000 is respect of the relocation of car park spaces, which are being used by the Road Safety Authority Test Centre on Davitt’s Quay.
