The magic of Christmas is arriving early in County Waterford this year when Santa Claus himself will arrive in to Tramore on Friday, November 28.

In addition to just paying a pre-festive season visit to one of his favourite places away from the North Pole, the man in red will be aiming to sprinkle holiday cheer and officially switch on the sparkling Christmas lights along the town’s Main Street.

The big switch-on will take place at around 5.30pm.

It will be followed by joyful live music and festive activities for the whole family to enjoy.

The Christmas spirit will continue throughout December with a free Santa’s Grotto for children on December 7, 14, and 21, from 2pm to 4pm.

That will be located on the Main Street opposite Tony’s Takeaway and will provide local children with a chance to let Santa know what they'd really like to get for Christmas.

The visits to the grotto will be free of charge, however, heartfelt donations to the Arch Club Tramore, supporting children with special needs, will be warmly welcomed.

Inside the Grotto, Santa’s cheerful elves will guide children through Christmas arts and crafts, and every well-behaved boy and girl will receive a special selection box straight from Santa’s sleigh.

A dedicated ‘Sensory Santa’ session will also take place on December 21, for children with autism and sensory needs, ensuring a calm and magical experience for all.

As one local commented: "Let the festive season begin in Tramore."
