Long-awaited county Waterford footpath project set for September
The project will see a new footpath constructed along Station Road, connecting into the existing footpath and providing a safer and more accessible route for pedestrians
Long-awaited footpath works in Lismore are set to start in September.
West Waterford councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy welcomed the confirmation of the project, which he has raised a number of times with the council.
The project will see a new footpath constructed along Station Road, connecting into the existing footpath and providing a safer and more accessible route for pedestrians. New street lighting will also be installed as part of the works.
“This is a project I have been pushing for because Station Road badly needs improved pedestrian infrastructure.
"The new footpath will join into the existing footpath, providing a much safer connection for people walking along the road, while the addition of street lighting will also make a significant difference.
“These types of projects make a real difference to a community. Having a proper footpath and adequate lighting gives people greater confidence to walk the route and, most importantly, makes it safer,” said Cllr Mulcahy.
Cllr Mulcahy thanked Waterford City and County Council officials and engineers involved in progressing the project and said he looked forward to seeing work getting underway in September.
