STATE OF PLAY: Counting reopens at the Waterford General Election count centre for day two

Count finished for the night
Counting has officially started for day two at SETU Waterford.
Here is the story so far.
On day one counting finished on count five at close on midnight, with just one TD elected.
Eliminated are People Before Profit-Solidarity’s Patrick Curtin, Independent Aaron Joyce, Independent Mark O’Neill, Irish People’s John D Walsh and Independent Killian Mangan.
Not a lot has happened by way of the election of TDs but lessons have certainly been learned.
Green Party candidate Marc O'Cathasaigh has conceded but told the Waterford News and Star he thinks the party have done some great work in government, they just haven’t communicated that well.
Sadhbh O’Neill is looking to the future but thinks that Labour's message didn’t land with young voters.
Patrick Curtain might have been eliminated but he said his run has put People Before Profit on the map in Waterford.
Also eliminated, Aaron Joyce told us this is not the end for his political career.
Elected David Cullinane said he is “humble and proud” to have been elected on the first count.
Tallies suggest it could be a very good day for Mary Butler and John Cummins but Matt Shanahan is not out yet.
The Waterford News and Star will be with you all day.
