Eamon Aylward had his last meeting as Councillor of the Piltown Municipality District on Wednesday, May 1, after 15 years of service.

Fellow Councillors warmly wished him well in all his future endeavours.

Cathaoirleach, Cllr Ger Frisby said: “Its our last meeting here today, it is Eamon’s last municipal meeting today after 15 years of service to the local area. It was a hard decision for him to come to, not run again on June 7, and I know it’s a long family tradition from the time his grandfather Bob came in the 1970’s, Liam and uncle Bobby, Lord have mercy on him.

“It wasn't easy for him but he made a decision based on his own circumstances and his family and he has to be commended for that. I’d like to wish him success going forward and happiness for the future.” Councillor Pat Dunphy praised his fellow Councillors: “I think as a team, we have worked well together. I think that's the way it should be because if its any other way then you don’t achieve as much. I think everyone here got on well, they all supported one another when they had to and that’s good to see because over the years I’ve seen different and its not good for an area when that happens.”

“I wish the best for everyone who is running again, thanks to Eamon for 15 years, Eamon is great colleague, always open for a debate and a chat.”

Cllr Fidelis Doherty said: “You’re a good, reasonable person, in your conversation or in your thinking, and holding the best intentions for the constituency of Piltown Municipal district."

Cllr Tomás Breathnach wished luck for his fellow outgoing colleagues ahead of the impending elections. Turning to Eamon, he said: “If I were looking over the last 15 years, its hard for us, Eamon, to think of the Municipal District here, without you.”

Finally Eamon thanked his colleagues and staff for their help and support throughout the years: “We have a great working relationship here, the five of us maybe from different political backgrounds, but always, always, since day one, it's been left at the door.

"The primary focus of all this was the betterment of the Piltown municipal area and the people in the area.”
