While the local candidates are gearing up for the elections on Friday, June 7, the Comeragh District candidates have shown an insight into their personal lives on and off the trail.

Two calves are better than one

Councillor Seanie Power, who was also Cathaoirleach of the Comeragh District Council, shared some photos and a video online last week of when he assisted with welcoming twin calves to his farm in Rathgormack, County Waterford.

The chances of a cow birthing twins is 2%.

On Saturday, May 11, Cllr Power said he was "home in time to help deliver these two little girls, after a long day’s canvassing in Ballymacarbry".

Every little helps

Also canvassing in the district, local Councillor Declan Clune compared a noticeable change in his support from now to his time out canvassing for the 2019 elections.

Cllr Clune shared two contrasting photos on social media, which had images of his election posters.

In the first photo, taken in 2019, the poster is taller than his young son, Max, who asked, "what are these for, Dad?" But in the second photo, taken only last week, Cllr Clune had a helping hand this time around as Max climbed to the top of the ladder to put the posters on display on his behalf.

"You're grand, I'll put those up for you, Dad," said Max.

"What a difference five years makes," remarked Cllr Clune.
