'Limbo-land' for parts of Ferrybank

Parts of Ferrybank were described as being in 'limbo-land'.

The cleanliness of Ferrybank was brought up at a recent Council meeting, raising questions over county jurisdiction.

Councillor Joeanne Bailey (Sinn Féin) said: "At the moment, Ferrybank is in something of a limbo-land. In the past a cleaning crew from Waterford City and County Council would come over and do a clean-up of the areas.

"Ferrybank Creche, the Primary Care Centre, Belmont Heights, they used to be done by Waterford Council and things are not looking great at the moment. Residents over there, with children in creche, families are wondering is anybody coming to clean it up?"

County lines

Cllr Bailey queried over the boundary lines between Kilkenny and Waterford, and added: "Someone has to take responsibility in this area and clean it up."

A member of the Executive noted that the matter would be "dealt with". It is understood that out of the 7,000 residents living in Ferrybank, around 2,000 live in Waterford.
