The new Jubilee Clock has finally been unveiled just outside St. Paul's Church in Lisduggan.
The landmark clock was created to honour the Jubilee Anniversary of St. Paul's, Lisduggan.
Residents of the parish celebrated the Golden Jubilee in 2022 through a series of events, including the creation of a memorial community garden. It was during this time that the idea of a clock was first raised.
In 2025, the Jubilee Clock Committee formed to create this tribute to the community. The committee was led by Fr. Pat Fitzgerald, the Parish Priest of St. Paul's.
Keating Fabrication were behind the making of the structure and Germar Electrical & Security created the LED. The structure itself was designed by Niall Harrington.
The Committee have encouraged locals to add their own family photographs into a time capsule connected to the clock. At time of going to press, donations were still being accepted for the Parish and various other events associated with the Jubilee.
Planning permission for the clock was granted in October last year, and preliminary works began in February.
Local councillors John Hearne (Sinn Féin) and Jason Murphy (Fianna Fáil) were members of the Jubilee Clock Committee. Both Councillors thanked their community for their support and help in making the vision a reality.
At a meeting in February tis year, Cllr Hearne said that the clock would symbolise the 'renaissance' of the area. Cllr Hearne said: "It’s to mark the renaissance of the parish and all the good people who put their hands in their pockets to put towards our community projects.
“It’s going to be beautiful. It will be the crowning glory for us, to celebrate all the work that’s been going on over the years.”
Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Alphonsus Cullinan stated: "This Jubilee Clock is a beautiful way of marking not only time, but the enduring presence of faith in St. Pauls Church Lisduggan — a legacy that will serve as a quiet witness for generations to come.”
The Diocese said in a statement: "This clock, thoughtfully designed around the Christian themes of Faith, Hope, and Love, will stand as a daily reminder of the presence of Christ at the heart of parish life, and as a witness to all who pass by."
