Issues with Waterford eParking may result in discontinuation of app

Numerous glitches have been reported on Waterford's eParking app.

The Waterford eParking app may have to be discontinued, says Waterford City and County Council Director of Services Ivan Grimes, if issues cannot be resolved soon.

Cllr Thomas Phelan raised issue with the Waterford eParking app at the recent Plenary meeting, where he told other elected members and council executives that he has been “inundated with screenshots” from constituents using the eParking app.

These screenshots showed glitches with the app’s operational hours, a €1 admin fee charged to customers using the app, and confusion over where a user’s money goes once it’s been added to their account if they have not used the total amount added.

Cllr Phelan said he felt the extra admin charge on the app was a “run around” and a “dodge”. He went on to say that: “We councilors have not approved that extra fee. Therefore, I think that we, the councilors and members of the public, are in their right to challenge that euro. That euro should not be there.”

Ivan Grimes, Director of Services for Waterford City and County Council, told the elected members that the €1 admin fee on the Waterford eParking app, as well as other issues mentioned with the app, will be looked at, adding “it will be resolved shortly, if not, we may have to discontinue the app”.
