IPSC protest Red Hat over continuing Israeli military ties
IPSC South East members at Red Hat,
Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) held a protest outside of Red Hat office in Waterford over the company's ties to Israeli military software.
The South East branch of the IPSC has again called for the company to sever their ties and handed a letter to the Red Hat area manager.
In the past, IPSC has protested Red Hat's involvement in Mamram technology; a software used by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), and Red Hat OpenShift.
While a ceasefire was called in Gaza earlier this month, Israeli military continues to bombard the region and block humanitarian aid.
Branch member Stephen Stone said: "By providing technological infrastructure to the IDF, Red Hat is not a neutral bystander, but is a complicit enabler of the illegal occupation and apartheid system."
Mary Lyng, Chairperson of the IPSC South East branch, said: "Employees in Red Hat’s office in Waterford have the power to take an ethical stance and have the right to call on their employers to take action to ensure that Red Hat technology is not used in human rights violations or military operations that violate international law."
