Investigation after strawberry seller targeted by thieves in Waterford

The strawberry seller was targeted in the Ferrybank area of Waterford City
The Gardaí in Waterford are investigating an incident that occurred in the Ferrybank area of the city during which a quantity of cash was taken from a strawberry seller.
The incident occurred on Friday, June 21, at around 4.45pm at Marymount, Ferrybank, close to a well-know grotto on Ross Road.
A Garda spokesperson sad the strawberry seller had a sum of money stolen from her.
Strawberry stands are a familiar site on local roads throughout the country during the summer months.
The spokesperson said two young males approached the stand and asked the price of a punnet of strawberries.
As she turned to get a bag for the punnet, the two males made off with the cash tray that was on the counter.
Gardaí in Ferrybank are looking for any dashcam footage that may assist with the investigation or information from any witness who may have observed two males running from the stand towards the church in Ferrybank.
“This was a busy time on Friday afternoon with commuter traffic passing this location,” said the spokesperson.
The two males were described as being in their teens. One had light blonde hair and was wearing a wind breaker jacket. He was described as being of medium height and build.
The second male has brown hair and was wearing a black hoody and grey pants.
