If you think you have to travel all the way to Cannes or Hollywood to see some brilliant cinema and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, think again!

The 19th Waterford International Film Festival runs 15–22 November 2025, featuring an exciting selection of over 40 live-screened films and more than 70 online-only finalists in various categories including Short Films, Animation, Documentaries, and more.

Live screenings take place on Saturday 15th November at The Chapel in SETU College Street Campus and House of Waterford, with networking events and film showcases.

There’s also an excuse to go full glam at the awards ceremony on Sunday 16th November at the House of Waterford.

In addition to film awards, the festival will present certificates to screenwriting and photography finalists, with the overall winners revealed during the awards ceremony.

Attendees will also enjoy an exhibition by last year’s Photography Competition winner, FE Knight, whose winning image is this year’s festival poster.

The exhibit will be on display at the House of Waterford on 15–16 November.

On the Sunday evening, there will also be a screening of restored cartoons from Max Fleischer, a pioneer in animation and creator of Betty Boop. This event is free but strictly over 18's and you must register via email (waterfordfilmfestival@gmail.com).

If you’re the type of person who likes to pause films for tea breaks or worse, you like to talk during movies, have no fear. Online screenings will run from 16–22 November, proudly presented by Eiretainment, allowing audiences to enjoy the festival programme from the comfort of their own home.
