The Dungarvan International Duck Race will take place on April 25.

There's likely to be a big splash in County Waterford this coming weekend when hundreds of ducks from all over the world are expected to converge on the county to take part in an international duck race in support of the RNLI.

The RNLI International Duck Race  will take place on Saturday, April 25, in Dungarvan during the Waterford Festival of Food.

The ducks are set to enter the water at 3pm near Devonshire Bridge.

“We’re hearing reports of fierce competition for the top spot,” said race organiser Kevin O’Morchoe.

Such is the level of anticipation ahead of the event it's possible some of the competitors might 'kwack' under the pressure and 'duck' out of the race.

However, some great prizes await the winning ducks, which can be sponsored for €3 each or two ducks for €5.

Sponsorships are available at select shops in Dungarvan and An Rinn, as well as at a dedicated stall on Davitt’s Quay near the Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club on race day.

Ducks can also be sponsored online at https://rnlihelvickswim.ie/

All proceeds will directly support the RNLI’s vital lifesaving operations.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives.
