Inspectors commend Killure Bridge Nursing Home for ‘excellent standards’

A nursing home in Waterford was found to be compliant in all areas following a recent inspection by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
Killure Bridge Nursing Home was subject to an unannounced inspection from HIQA on February 12.
There were 79 residents present at the centre on the date.
Over the course of the day, the inspector spoke with residents, staff, and visitors to gain insight into the residents' lived experience in the centre.
All residents spoken with were overwhelmingly complimentary in their feedback and expressed satisfaction about the standard of care provided.
The report said: ‘It was evident that residents were supported by a kind and dedicated staff and management team who treated the residents with the utmost courtesy, dignity and respect. The inspector observed that personal care needs were met to an excellent standard.’
The centre itself was described as ‘bright, warm, and well-ventilated throughout. The environment was homely, clean and beautifully decorated.’
As the inspector walked through the centre, residents were observed to be content as they went about their daily lives.
Residents spoke positively about their experience of living in the centre.
They commented that they were ‘very well cared for, comfortable and happy living in the centre.’
Residents also said that staff were ‘kind and always provided them with assistance when it was needed’.
One resident said 'I cannot find fault with the place' and that 'the staff are brilliant, every one of them'.
Another resident told the inspector 'life is good'.
The centre was marked ‘compliant’ in every category of inspection.
These areas include staffing, record keeping, quality and safety, food and nutrition.
The inspector also noted the effective governance and management arrangements in place, which ensured residents received a good quality of care and support, from a staff team who knew them well.
