Former pupil Richie Hayes gave the keynote speech to the students, telling them about his days in De La Salle.
He spoke about his own student experience, challenges as a shorter gentleman attending the school and fostering a love of music.

His paid warm tribute to music teacher Ms Harrison, who was at the awards ceremony.
Students were praised for both their academic and extracurricular achievements. Each award holds a deep significance for the College and its rich history.
Student Luke O'Farrell was honoured with the Karl Kirby Award, an deeply missed, talented young student who sadly passed away from cancer in 2019.

According to the college: "Above all, Karl was a loyal friend—gentle, thoughtful, full of laughter and warmth. For those of us who knew him, he remains an enduring role model.
"We are very proud at De La Salle to honour his memory with this award."
The College created the Frank O'Callaghan award in honour of a highly regarded man who worked at De La Salle for over 40 years, as a teacher, a Year Head, Deputy Principal and Principal.
Frank passed away in 2018, shortly after his retirement.

The school stated: "In memory of Frank and in honour of his time and commitment to De La Salle College, we established the Frank O Callaghan Award to recognise a sixth year student who has shown a strong commitment to the Sport while still working hard with his studies."

The award was presented to Fiachra Cooney by Alma, Frank's wife.
