Waterford’s Gilbert O’Sullivan has announced three gigs that will take place at the Theatre Royal this November.
The performances follow on from the singer-songwriters long awaited return to the Déise which took place late last year, when an initial two gig return became five sold out performances due to unprecedented demand.
O’Sullivan was recently granted the Freedom of Waterford, in recognition of his contribution to global popular culture through his music.
During the acceptance ceremony, he was described as “a signal composer and performer from Waterford roots who has made an indelible mark on the world of modern music”.
The Cork Road native’s career has spanned 50 years. His first single success, ‘Nothing Rhymed’, was released in 1970 and almost overnight it achieved Top 10 status in the UK and Europe.
He has achieved Top 10 singles and Number 1’s around the world, including the classic ‘Alone Again (Naturally)’, which topped the US charts and earned him three Grammy nominations.
The upcoming performances take place on November 24, 26 and 27 at 8pm.
Tickets cost €56.
