Glamping site planned in West Waterford

The proposed site is positioned at a focal point of the St. Declan's Walk route.

The development of a glamping accommodation site is planned at Dysert, Ardmore, County Waterford.

The submitted planning application proposes the construction of five glamping pods.

Each pod will have a floor area of at least 27sqm and will consist of a double bedroom, a shower room and a kitchen/ living/ dining area. This living room can also be used as a second bedroom with a sofa bed if required.

Five car parking spaces and a biodiversity zone are also proposed.

A detailed report supplementing the application prepared by Thornton O’Connor Town Planning provides a detailed assessment of the proposed development.

The report outlines that the site location itself has an area of approximately 0.36 Ha and is currently in agricultural use.

The report additionally says the subject site is strategically located at a focal point of the St. Declan’s Walk route, being either the start or end point depending on the direction taken by walkers, and that there is significant demand for tourist accommodation in Ardmore.

A decision is expected on the application by October 2.
