Garda appeal after unprovoked hurley attack on man in Waterford

The incident occurred on the outskirts of Waterford City
The Gardaí in Waterford have issued an appeal for assistance from the public in identifying two males who were involved in a unprovoked attack on a third male on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday, April 2, at around 5pm.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí told Waterford News & Star and waterford-news.ie: "The assault took place in the Tramore Road Business Park. People may be familiar with the Screw Fix and 'Mum and Me' premises, at the entrance to the Business Park."
The spokesperson said two males, believed to be in their early 20’s, wearing black or grey tracksuits with hoodies up and their faces covered, approached a young man as he left his place of work in the business park.
They proceeded to assault him with a hurley, causing him facial injuries.
"They made their escape on foot towards Waterford City passing Dunphy’s Shop, towards the Circle K garage on The Manor," said the spokesperson.
"This would have been a busy time on this road and we are asking anyone with information to contact Unit B, at Waterford Garda Station, on 051 305300," she added.
People can also provide information through the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
CCTV has been obtained and investigations are ongoing.
