A 34-year-old Waterford man charged in relation to the death of John (King) O'Connor in New Ross, has been further remanded in custody to allow for the presentation of the Book of Evidence.

Wayne Roche appeared via video link before Judge John Cheatle at Wexford District Court on Monday, April 7, from Cloverhill Prison.

Roche, with a previous address of 84 Dominick's Place, Waterford, and most recently of no fixed abode, is charged with the murder of John (King) O'Connor (58) in his home at Cluain Fada, New Ross, on Tuesday, December 31.

Prosecuting Sergeant Victor Isdell informed the court that the Book of Evidence was not yet available.

He requested a further adjournment to allow time for completion of the book. Defence Solicitor Lana Doherty said there was no objection to the application.

However, Ms Doherty said the accused had previously been 'sick tested' and unable to appear via video link.

He is before the court today via video link. Ms Doherty re-iterated a previous application that Mr. Roche receive all necessary medical attention.

Judge Cheatle said there was a recommendation as such already in place. Judge Cheatle said he would further remand the accused to appear via video link at Wexford District Court on April 28.
