Fundraiser sees more than €1,000 raised for charity at Waterford drama festival
Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy said the funds raised 'show the strength of our community and what West Waterford is all about'
A raffle at the West Waterford Drama Festival has raised €1,200 for family accommodation for people receiving treatment in Cork.
The raffle took place on Tuesday night, when Brideview Drama and the money was raised for Brú Columbanus.
It was organised by Emily Heneghan, and both she and Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy sold tickets on the night.
Emily thanked everyone who supported the raffle and the West Waterford Drama Festival committee for the opportunity to hold the fundraiser.
Cllr. Mulcahy also praised the community support shown on the night.
“Nights like this really show the strength of our community and what West Waterford is all about. I want to commend Emily for organising the raffle and thank everyone who supported it,” said Cllr Mulcahy.
Easter Camp Emily is also organising a Get Active Easter Camp, which will take place on Friday, April 3, from 10am to 2pm at Blackwater Community School in Lismore.
The camp is open to children from Junior Infants to 6th Class, with activities including team sports, obstacle courses, field games, parachute fun and team building.
The cost of the camp is €25, and all proceeds from the event will again go to Brú Columbanus.
An Easter raffle will also take place on the day.
Parents can register by emailing getactivesummercamp@gmail.com with their child’s name, age and class. Places are limited and confirmation will be sent by email.
Brú Columbanus provides accommodation and support to families who need to stay close to loved ones receiving treatment in Cork hospitals.
