Free repair café in Waterford gives old items a new lease of life

The Larchville and Lisduggan Residents Association together with Waterford Area Partnership are welcoming locals to their ongoing monthly Repair Café event.

The Repair events focus on simple clothing repairs, toys, jewellery and small household item repairs as well as advice on battery powered devices.

Visitors bring their broken items from home and together with the volunteers, they start making their repairs.

Repair Cafés are free meeting places, all about repairing things together and learning. On hand will be expert volunteers, with repair skills in a range of fields.

If you have nothing to repair, you can lend a hand to someone else’s repair job or even just come along for a cup of tea and a chat.

A spokesperson from the The Larchville and Lisduggan residents' association said, “The repair café has the potential to be a huge benefit to the local community both financially and socially and we’re delighted to be participating with Waterford Area Partnership on this exciting new venture, to date we’ve repaired 32 items that would have potentially been thrown away.”

The events will take place in the Manor St. John Community Centre, Lisduggan on the second Saturday of every month from 12pm to 2pm.
