At a recent meeting of the Metropolitan District Council, Waterford City and County Council executives revealed that it can take the ESB up to 18 weeks to respond to notices of lighting issues in the county.

At the meeting, multiple councillors raised concerns about lighting issues across the district.

The Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Séamus Ryan, asked for an update on when lighting issues in Ursuline Court will be resolved, and he also asked for an update on public lighting for the People’s Park.

Independent Councillor Joe Kelly informed the council that there were lights out in Hillview.

A council executive told the councillors that the council couldn't speed up resolving lighting issues in the district because “it can take anywhere from six, 12 to 18 weeks to get a reply from the ESB.”

The executive also said that the lighting in the People’s Park had gone to tender so the project was progressing.
