At a recent meeting of the Metropolitan district council, Sinn Féin Councillor Joeanne Bailey told the council that in relation to grants for older people, “the waitlist is too long for works to be done”.
“A lady is home from hospital, and she applied for a stairlift in October. All her forms went in; the OT was out in December. She is sleeping in her sitting room, and the works are not to commence until May," she said.
“Why is it taking months to implement a stairlift in someone’s house? I don’t understand it. What is the hold up?” she added.
Talking to the Waterford News & Star, Cllr Bailey said: "We need to do more to make sure people aren't waiting months for essential works to be done in their homes."
