Members of Dunmore East RNLI took to the water recently, not for an emergency call-out, but for a training exercise where the focus of attention was on navigation.
The crew member travelled up the river Suir to Waterford City and a spokesperson commented that the river itself presents some unique challenges which was of benefit to the team.

"The river brings some unique challenges to the team with constant attention required to identify buoyage, watch depths and monitoring of charts in relation to tidal levels and other traffic in the channel," said the spokesperson.

In an online post on the branch's social media page it was also noted that communication between all crew members in such situations is very important and it was good for the crew to practice that.

Among those who participated in the event were crew members Raina Freiberg, Hugh O'Sullivan and Bill Deevy. Raina also took these great photos from the training exercise day.
