Date extended for cost rentals

The scheme is extended to July 14.
The date has been extended for Expressions of Interest for Cost Rental Housing in Dungarvan.
People interested in the affordable rented accommodation scheme have until Sunday, July 14, to apply.
Waterford City and County Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from people who wish to avail of Cost Rental options in Dungarvan and Abbeyside, Co. Waterford.
The scheme is open to people on 'middle incomes'.
According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO): "The median nominal household disposable income in SILC 2023 (calendar year 2022) was €55,149, an increase of €3,005 (+5.8%) from the previous year.
According to Waterford Council:
"It is aimed at people who are above the threshold for social housing but have difficulty affording private rented accommodation. It is called “cost rental” because the rent you pay is based on the cost of building, managing, and maintaining the homes.
"This makes the rent cheaper than standard rents. The rent for cost rental homes will be at least 25% below regular market rents in an area."
It continued: "Rents will be in the region of €1,000 for a one-bed property to €1,500 for a three-bed property.
"To qualify for a Cost Rental home your combined household NET income must be no more than €59,000."
