Psychedelic bark, LSD, cocaine found in flat

The man will appear in Waterford District Court today
A man living in Waterford was caught in possession of cannabis, cocaine, LSD and psychedelic bark.
Andrej Wojciak, of Anne's Court, Penrose Lane, pleaded guilty at Waterford Circuit Court to possession of drugs contrary to Section 15(A) of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
On July 7, 2022, Gardaí searched his home on foot of a warrant. Inside the home, they discovered a quantity of cocaine to the value of €2,200; LSD valued at €8,650 and cannabis valued at €18,000. Cash of over €3,000 was also recovered at the scene.
Gardaí discovered 3.25kg of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) bark on the premises. Dimethyltryptamine is a hallucinogenic drug that can be produced from plants. The Court heard that through an elaborate process the bark could return a potential yield of €7,000.
Defence counsel Michelle Smith De Bruin BL told the Court that Wojciak had no previous convictions and was fully cooperative with Gardaí.
She explained that her client had taken an interest in scientific processes and experiments during the lockdown by watching YouTube videos.
Ms De Bruin told the Court that her client received an autism diagnosis by a doctor during the preparation of his probation report.
The Court heard that 44-year-old Wojciak had a strong work history and trained as an electrical engineer in Poland.
Judge Eugene O'Kelly imposed a headline sentence of six years, reduced by two years in mitigation. Judge O'Kelly suspended the sentence for four years and ordered Wojciak to be on good behaviour. A destruction order of the recovered drugs was issued.
