“Please help with this savage attack. On Saturday at 2.30am three males forced their way into a house in Ardmore Park, Ballybeg, by breaking in the glass in the front door.
“They savagely beat a man with hammers and demanded money. The man was badly beaten and hospitalised. Both he and his terrified mother were traumatised and both are living in fear since the attack.
“I'm asking people to check their video doorbells and report anything that may assist the investigation to the crime unit in Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300 or the confidential line on 1800 666 111.
“There is no room in society for thugs who would repeatedly beat a defenceless man on the ground with hammers, or call me with information on 089 4352404.
“And please, please share,” wrote Cllr Hearne.
