Council praises Olympic success for Waterford's boxing coach

When Kellie Harrington won Olympic Gold for Ireland in boxing there was double reason to celebrate in the Déise.
In congratulating Ms Harrington on her victory, Waterford City & County Council also acknowledged Waterford's Lynne McEnery who was one of her dedicated coaching team.
"Congratulations to Kellie on becoming the first Irish boxer to win back-to-back Olympic gold," said the local authority in an online statement.
"In Kellie’s corner is her dedicated coaching team, including Waterford woman Lynne McEnery, Ireland’s first ever female boxing coach," it continued.
Ms McEerny is a former international boxer in her own right and a member of St Paul's Boxing Club in Waterford with the local authority commenting that she is an inspirational role model in the boxing community.
