Dublin City Council is organising an event in front of the GPO on O’Connell Street to celebrate their success.

When Kellie Harrington won Olympic Gold for Ireland in boxing there was double reason to celebrate in the Déise.

The boxer is bidding to become back-to-back Olympic champion in the women's 60kg boxing final.

It all boiled down to the final round, where Ferreira threw some ferocious punches, but Harrington was still in the contest, hitting a brilliant strike to the face with her left hand and emerged victorious.

The event, hosted by the North East Inner City Initiative and Dublin City Council, will take place at the Diamond Park Basketball Court in Dublin 1 from 4.30pm, ahead of the scheduled match start time at 4.54pm
