The construction company behind the renovation works at two iconic buildings in Waterford City has announced the job done.

Tom O’Brien Construction said in a post on social media that the conservation and restoration works are now complete at Bishop’s Palace and City Hall / Theatre Royal.

Both City Hall and Bishop’s Palace are protected structures of national importance and so all works were delicate and required specialised skills.

“Our status as Nationally Recognised and Registered Heritage Contractors allowed us to carry out these intrusive works as delicately as practicable for our Clients in Waterford City & County Council, where Senior Architect Matthew Partridge led the Broader WCCC Team.

“Our thanks to all involved in this regeneration project, including all of our specialist and traditional subcontractors & suppliers,” wrote Tom O’Brien Construction on social media.

The company said that some of the works carried out included structural upgrades and repairs, replastering, stone raking and repointing and lead replacement.

The Natural Blue Bangor slates on the roof were replaced, as well as the flat roof.
