A very novel form of bingo was witnessed at a community field day in Count Waterford when onlookers hoped their feathered friends were dying for a 'number 2'.

Chick Bingo was added to the attractions at this years Tourin community field day and it proved to be a great hit.

The concept was simple - a chick run was set up with numbered squares and all the chickens had to do was look interesting and poop!

"All you had to do was buy a square and hope that the chicken pooped on that number and the prize was yours," said the spokesperson for the organising committee.

"So, if the chicken pooped on your square, you got a grand prize of €10, a fair return on your investment of €2," she added. The winners on the day were Pat Barry, Pat Coffey, Micheál Daly and Joanne Daly.

However, the spokesperson said there were one or two little hiccups along the way with the fourth and final round proving a little problematic as the pooping chicken’s deciding they were on strike.

"Four chickens were introduced for the poop fest," said the spokesperson.

"They had a grand time prancing around and preening their feathers," she added. Chairs were drawn up and there was a ringside view of the event.

"All was needed was a little rear action on behalf of the chickens," said the spokesperson.

However, the rebellious chickens won out and having decided renege on their promise to deliver regular 'Number 2s', a decision was made to ask a member of our general public to pick the winning square number.

The number 20 was picked by a final winner was decided.
