Celebrating 70 years of home-grown produce, bakes and crafts in Waterford

Waterford Country Market has celebrated its 70th anniversary.
The market is based in St Olaf’s Hall on Peter Street next to City Square.
To celebrate this wonderful milestone, the market held a coffee morning in aid of Waterford Hospice.
Secretary Chris Hilliard said he was delighted to be celebrating this achievement.
“To all our regulars, thank you very much for all your support over the years and I look forward to seeing you all for many years to come,” said Chris.
Mayor of Waterford City and County Liam Brazil spoke at the event.
He said he was honoured to have been invited.
“It is great for the city to have a country market," said Mayor Brazil.
“It is so great for people to come here and get their country veg and it is so important for us to support our own produce as well. You are supporting your own people in the city of Waterford.
“It’s fantastic.”
The market is open from 9am to 2pm every Friday.
Run as a cooperative, stalls sell everything from eggs, organic fruit and vegetables and baked goods to beautiful crafts, including jewellery, knits, embroidery, cards and much more.
