A beautiful mural has been painted in Waterford to honour Olympic runner Rhasidat Adeleke.
Adeleke made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Irishwoman to make an Olympic sprint final.
She finished fourth on the 400m final on Friday, an extraordinary accomplishment for the 21-year old.
On Saturday, she ran alongside Sophie Becker, Phil Healy and Sharlene Mawdsley in the women's 4x400m relay final.
The team came agonisingly close to the podium but, alas, finished fourth.
The relay team and their fellow Olympians returned home to a hero's welcome, with a massive celebration at the GPO at O'Connell's Street, Dublin.
On Jenkins Avenue, just off our own O'Connell's Street, street artist JEKS created a stunning mural of Adeleke, with the apt 'national treasure' written on her side.
The mural was created during the Waterford Walls street art festival, which launched over the weekend.
Waterford Walls said in a post on social media: "How lucky are we to have such amazing talent here in Ireland?
"While Ireland isn’t perfect, the progress our country has made over the last 20 years is staggering.
"Rhasidat Adeleke is a beautiful emblem of everything that’s great about modern Ireland. She symbolises talent, hard work, achievement at the highest possible level and diversity.
"She represents the Ireland that the vast majority of us want to live in.
"We are super proud of Rhasidat and all our Olympians. Shout out to JEKS for working his magic"
