A planning application has been submitted for 99 housing units at Knockboy, Waterford.

A planning application has been submitted this week for the development of 99 housing units at Knockboy, Waterford.

At the site, it is proposed to develop 55 two-storey houses (providing 19 four-bed and 36 three-bed houses) and 44 apartments within four four-storey blocks (providing 20 one-bed and 24 two-bed apartments).

A creche is also planned, designed to cater for approximately 32 children.

181 car parking spaces are proposed, and 80 bicycle parking spaces within four storage facilities. Additional visitor bicycle parking will be provided in the public realm.

Vehicular access to the proposed development is from St. Mary’s Place, which links the Dunmore Road and Williamstown Road.

Vehicular, pedestrian and cyclist accesses to the public road are planned, including the provision of two pedestrian crossings.

The site measuring 2.9Ha at St. Mary’s Place, Knockboy, is currently used as agricultural land.

The planning application states: “This project creates a place that provides a high quality of life through healthy, diverse, inclusive and age-friendly communities.

“We believe that the development will be looked upon favourably by the Waterford City and County planning authority and that this residential development of 99 units will provide high quality residential accommodation for the Waterford suburb.”

A decision is expected on the development by November 25.
